For those who have played WoW, and have taken even a micro-second to glance at the scrolling trash spewed out of trade chat, the notion that there is offensive talk going on is not new. However, one server, Moon Guard (which has developed it’s own unique reputation for offensive comments) is going to get some special Blizzard attention. Responding to complaints Blizzard has promised to patrol the server stating on their message board that,
“Members of our CS team will ‘patrol’ Goldshire on Moon Guard on a regular basis, and take appropriate action for individuals violating the Harassment Policy. Note that this pertains primarily to public messages (/say, /yell, General) and unsolicited whispers. We won’t be showing up with that mythical crack of lightning– we’ll just be watching silently for any rule-breaking language and following up privately with the player[s] in question.” Arrestide, Blizzard moderator.
A lot of other post have pointed out that not all WoW players engage in any sort of bad behavior on the game, and, for the most part, just want to play and have a good time. I agree, and good for them, but the actions of few dumb-asses goes a long way for ruining the game for everyone. I’m glad for once that Blizzard is taking action and stepping in to moderate. This game will be so much better once the sad social rejects are banned from the game, and the rest of us can be free from the constant negativity the trolls bring. Good job Blizzard!
