Wow, we’re actually getting a Hobbit movie. I never doubted, not even for a minute. According to the studios responsible for the Hobbit have just released an official announcement for the films Casting. Martin Freeman (the guy who played Author Dent and Tim from the Office) will be stepping into the role of Bilbo Baggins. Concerning the casting of Mr. Freeman, Peter Jackson had this to say,

Despite the various rumors and speculation surrounding this role, there has only ever been one Bilbo Baggins for us… There are a few times in your career when you come across an actor who you know was born to play a role, but that was the case as soon as I met Martin. He is intelligent, funny, surprising and brave – exactly like Bilbo and I feel incredibly proud to be able to announce that he is our Hobbit.”

Filling the small, yet mighty, shoes of the dwarves are Richard Armitage as Thorin Oakenshield, Aidan Turner as Kili, Rob Kazinsky as Fili, Graham McTavish as Dwalin, John Callen as Oin, Stephen Hunter as Bombur, Mark Hadlow as Dori, Peter Hambleton as Gloin.

Production for the Hobbit is expected to begin sometime early next year.
