Jam by Mirai Mizue

Ever since Chudd and I have started blogging we’ve come to rely on other great blogs to find cool and interesting stories to post on our site. laughingsquid.com is one of my favorites and recently I found on their awesome blog an interesting animation by animator Mirai Mizue. Jam is a visually unique animation that hits somewhere between creative genius or good acid trip (Not that I would know). In her own words Mizue said,

The idea of JAM was conceived while I was attending the Ottawa International Animation Festival in 2008.After returning to Japan, I soon began making the film and completed it in four months. This film is based on a very simple idea: the increasingly varied the sounds, the greater is the number of creatures. I wanted to rid myself of the frustrating experience of making Devour Dinner, which was highly unsatisfactory from the viewpoint of the movement in the film. My intention in this film was to fill the screen with chaotic movements.

So go ahead and give it a try and check out some of Mirai Mizues other animations that blend motion, color, and sound, in an amazing way.

Enjoy.

I don’t think a person can be drunk enough for this. Seriously, this weekend I’m a’going to pound several Irish Car bombs then watch this. Maybe I’ll see something in there.
