Okay, I finally decided to post the Lovecraft inspired project I mentioned last Wednesday (in the At the Mountains of Madness post). I was going to do another wallpaper, but this time I thought I would try something different. So here it is: The H.P. Lovecraft Cut-Out mask.
I was thinking why do something based on Lovecraft when you could be Lovecraft… right? Yup, just slap this on and write your own stories of unspeakable horrors. It’s free to download, and there are two sizes available: an 11″ x 17″ and a 8.5″ x 11″. Click here, or click on the image above to go to the page to download them. It works out a lot better if you print these on a thicker stock of paper (like card stock).
I want to do more projects like this for Atomic Moo, but lately It’s been hard to find the time to do anything other than a quick regurge in the mornings of stuff I find on other sites. I had a lot of fun working on this, and the other Atomic Moo projects, so I’m going spend more time developing new stuff . They tend to take my mind off the bullshit going on right now in my life, and who knows, maybe they’ll lead to something good.
For the most part I based the illustration of the mask off this image, though, for some reason, I didn’t want to give him the crooked nose. Damn that dude had a chin! Trog and I were thinking he probably had one hell of an under-bite, but we’re just guessing that from looking at his images. I had a bad under-bite too, until I had corrective surgery back in 2002. Now I have a decent bite and partially numb lower lip.
The tentacles I used in the background were from my iStock portfolio. I did these about three years ago, based off a quick doodle in my sketch book. It looks like they came in handy here.
I’m thinking as soon as I can I would like to do another paper mask project for Atomic Moo. Maybe a Edgar Allen Poe mask, or Ed Wood. I dunno. Let me know if any of you have some suggestions or ideas. Enjoy.
