Plava Laguna by Justin Van Genderen

So, I got an offer to go down to Sorrento and do a “working interview” as a graphic designer this week. Don’t worry, I’m getting paid for it… not much, but right now I’ll take it. Anyhow, I got to the Coaster station a little too early (how fucked up is it that I have to take the train while my brother gets to run my car down to Poway (over 30 miles one way) every day???), and as I’m sitting there waiting (reading my copy of the Dragon… Tattoo Girl Who Likes Fire… close enough…) I get approached by two homeless gentlemen. If you combined the number of teeth both these guys had left, you still wouldn’t have enough for just one mouth. Anyways, the shorter, less hairy one, tries to inform me that the reason the train is late is because it’s George Washington’s birthday… It took him awhile to do this, but eventually he made his point (of course the real reason the train wasn’t there was because it was only 8:45 and wasn’t expected to arrive until 9:28). I said “Do you mean it’s Martin Luther King day?”

“YUP!”

Pleased to see he was successful in this news blast, he proudly stuck out his hand expecting a tip. So, what the fuck, I gave near a dollar’s worth of change in my pocket and off they went. A moment later I saw them shuffling across the parking lot with a case of Bud Light tuck up underneath the Newsmans arm. I guess my buck was the last thing stopping them from really enjoying their day. Now that I think about it, it was a twelve pack… I pitched in a buck… Why the fuck didn’t they offer me one? Assholes…

Sorry, not much to do with Martin Luther King there… Anyways, I was just going through my reader and spotted some nifty stuff of interest, like the illustration above by Justin Van Genderen that I spotted on Geek-Art.net. I’ve posted some of his work on here before, but if you get a chance you should really check out his website. There’s is a ton of kick ass stuff on there. There’s a couple of images I’ll post below that I thought were really great. I got a couple other things to share, so check them out after the jump.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: What’s the point in having a blog if you can’t use it to show off your own work? This is something I worked up over the weekend. I know, I’ve got a ways to go, but I figure the more I do the better I’ll get. So look forward to more of this sorta stuff… unless I get eaten by bears.
