Hey El Moochadors! Well, another Comic-Con has come and gone. Both Trog and I had a great time, though now I’m suffering from a bit of “con-crud”, so I’m going to keep this brief. Thanks to Buttery Wholesomeness and son for keeping the site alive while we were gone, and Sir Noel for giving us a post-con post. It was also great to see Sir Noel at the con, and thanks to him for helping me out with my first portfolio review and telling me about the artist/writer connection, which I had an awesome time at both.
I’m not even sure where to begin with all that happened this weekend. Trog managed to get into some very cool panels and signings like Wilfred and The Big Bang Theory. We both got to see the Will Shatner/Roger Corman/Kevin Smith panel, as well as the Robot Chicken and Black Dynamite (Fucking awesome cartoon!). We both tried to get as many photos as we could with all the sexy cosplayers (I’ll upload all the photos tomorrow and post a few below), and I would like to thank all those ladies (and a couple dudes…) for letting two sweaty nerds rub up against them. We met a lot of very great and talented artists and creatives, and many who were awesome enough to share some wisdom and advice with us. We made new friends with a few line buddies. As I mentioned before I did the portfolio review for the first time, and I was amazed by how positive that experience was. It proved to me that people can critique a portfolio with out being complete douche-bags, and give positive feedback that makes you want to work harder and improve your skills (a lesson I wish many senior designers and art directors in the San Diego area would learn).
Well, there’s more I could say, but the con-crud is really kicking my butt. I’m definitely looking forward to next year (hopefully we’ll get tickets…), and seeing where Atomic Moo will be by then. Later!
