Via Happy New Years (eve) El Moochadores! I kind of have to say it now, because I don’t know if I’ll be able to post tomorrow. Anyways, I recently came across the Charlie Rose interview with George Lucas. Movie Pilot pointed this out, and I also thought it was interesting, but towards the end of the interview Lucas discusses his thoughts on Star Wars Episode VII. In the interview he states:

They wanted to do a retro movie. I don’t like that. Every movie I work very hard to make them completely different, with different planets, with different spaceships, make it new.

Though he had more to say on the subject, that statement got me to thinking about why I dislike (nay: fucking loath) the new Disney-Star Wars. The film, and and it’s producers, made no attempt to make an original movie. They re-hashed the first Star Wars film, packed it full of fan service, and walked away with a billion dollars for their lazy efforts. Star Wars has always meant a lot to me and I’m sorry for complaining about the new film so much on here, but I’m even more sorry I ever paid money to watch that piece of shit. Yeah, we all bitched about the prequels, but at least they had their own stories, and it would have been far more interesting to see the episode VII Lucas had planned instead of the Disney/Abrams money grab that was delivered to us on December 17th.

Anyhow, enough nerd raging. Check out the interview below and watch as Lucas is grilled way to long on the importance of an award ceremony.
