Kawasaki Warehouse: A Crazy Arcade in Japan!
Hey El Moochadores, Beat Down Boogie just posted this nifty video showing off the Kawasaki Warehouse. Inside of which is a really cool looking arcade based on Kowloon Walled City. Which, as we all remember from our history – I just learned just now, was a historic densely populated slum in china during the 20th century. The Kowloon Walled City is now gone (leveled by the Chinese government in the 1990’s), but if it looked even close to what the arcade looks like, it must’ve been one scary damn place!
Anyways, check out the video below and images can be found on the Beat Down Boogie Facebook page. Maybe someday we’ll get something cool like this in the states. I meant the arcade, not an overpopulated, crime infested slum.
The Kawasaki Warehouse is a huge arcade in Kawasaki Japan (about 30-40 minutes from Tokyo by train). The coolest part of the arcade is a section modeled after Kowloon Walled City, a crowded urban nest in Hong Kong that was demolished in the 1990’s. Kowloon inspired the settings of many fictional video games, animes, and movies.
The Kowloon section of the arcade houses classic game cabinets such as Darius, Outrun, Street Fighter, and Gauntlet.
