A monster-building card game from the creators of Exploding Kittens
Okay El Moochadores, I feel like hell. I’ve caught yet another cold (seems to happen about once a year) and despite being a sweaty ball of snot and coughs, I’m going to try and write about a really great looking Kickstarter project. Unfortunately, because I’m sick, I don’t think I’ll be going to this years Comikaze (aka: Los Angeles Comic Con… please change the name back to Comikaze). Which sucks, because despite being in L.A. (yuck), it is actually one of my all time favorite comic book conventions. Anyways, my hot toddy is kicking in, so onto the post!
Stop the baby army!!! Okay, you’re just not gonna find another card game that has such a fantastic objective. Sorry, but Magic: The Gathering totally missed the boat when they made a card game about wizards and not monsters fighting babies. Which is exactly the point of this game from the makers of Exploding Kittens. In Bears vs Babies the objective is to “build handsome, incredible monsters who go to war with horrible, awful babies.” Groovy. According to the Kickstarter, the game has competing players “build” monsters from cards drawn in the center of the table. The monster cards (bears) are used by the players to make these really cool mash ups, while the baby cards go in the middle of the table to form an army that must be stopped. It looks like the game also has a wonderful way to screw over your fellow players by provoking a baby army that might be stronger then your fellow players monsters, too soon. The core deck will begin with 80 + cards but check out the KS for more information and booster packs. The Kickstarter for the card game has already hit over 47,000 pledges with a wopping $1,700,000.00 in contributions, so the good news is, this game is totally getting made. However, there are 20 days left (as of this post) so get your butts over there and buy a first round edition of this big chunk of awesome!
