Hey El Moochadors, here’s something I came across while at work today from one of our favorite geeky redheads, Lorraine Cink. This actually goes along with what Trog and I were bitching discussing on our last Atomic Moocast about how we’re too broke to be geeks…which sucks. She actually has some good ideas here. Check it out:
Okay, now that you’ve watched the video, here’s just a quick response to each point:
Comic Subscriptions! Great idea! Honestly I hadn’t even thought of trying that. My only problem with that is I have too much coming out of my check right now as it is. Even the $4.99 for the Marvel subscription would hurt right now (yes, I’m that broke). So, until I either pay off some debt (fucking banks… and student loans… and oral surgeons…), or start making more money, I don’t think I can do that. Someday though…
Antique shops! Another awesome idea! Actually I’ve found some pretty cool stuff in Antique shops like vintage Star Wars Action figues. And the great thing is they’re usually missed priced in your favor! Recently I found a stack of old Starlog magazines from the early ’80s in a local shop. It was kind of neat to read about a time before ESB, when the original Battlestar Galactica ruled geekdom. My only problem with this option is Antique shops creep me the fuck out! Usually their run by older folk that look like they’re scheming to trade a old pack of Star Wars trading cards for your soul… or they’re going to wait until you walk into a dark corner and then club you and cut out your organs for the black market… I dunno. Also, you’re usually the only one in the shop wandering around among creepy looking dolls that may or may not be following around the store… they could be.
Nerd Organizations! Go to Meetup.com! I found an anime group down in San Diego, Okore, through there. Of course, since it’s all the way down in San Diego, and I’m up in North County, I haven’t been able to afford the gas down there lately. Also, when freelance work comes up, like this weekend, I usually have to opt out and stay home. Still, I’m looking for something a little closer to home, and who knows, if I can’t find something, maybe I’ll start something myself… maybe… like a lonely broke geeks club of North County San Diego… I dunno…
Beta Testing! Is that were you play video games that haven’t been released yet? Okay, sounds great. My problem: time! That’s why I don’t play video games now. I don’t have the time for them. I recently tried Portal and Portal 2 and lost a whole weekend to them. I needed that weekend. I could’ve got caught up with work, did more for my stock illustration, Atomic Moo, or work for my portfolio. All I’m saying is, out off the shit I should be doing, video games are usually low on my list… no matter how much I want to play them (one day I’ll get to play Halo 3, 4, Arkham City, and Angry Birds…)
Share Groups! I’ve already got that one covered. I was born into a share group. That’s what you get a when you have a twin. Outside of that, I really don’t trust anyone else (not even sure I trust him… ).
Well, that’s my two bits. Let us know what you think. I’ve got a pork chop in the grill, so later!
Hey El Moochadors. Sorry it’s been awhile since I’ve last posted. Good thing Trog is around to take the reigns while I get things sorted out. Anyhow, I thought I’d do a quick one this morning since I got a little free time (just put my clothes in the wash… not sure what else to do) of a new video blog I received an email about. Alright, I don’t know why, but usually when I get emailed about doing a post for someone, I get a little hesitant (I don’t want end up posting about or linking to sites for cheap Russian watches, or penis enlargement pills). Except of course if it’s a really cute red headed girl, then I’m more than happy to. This one though definitely has a geeky vein to her, so it shouldn’t be problem. You’ve probably seen her as the host of Marvel’s YouTube The Watcher videos. I know I’ve watched my share of them… at night… over and over and over—anyhow… check out her new video below, and subscribe to her channel. I think my clothes are about done (good, ’cause I could use a pair of pants right now… my legs are cold…). Later!
Well… while my porkchop is cooking, I figure I should do a post… at least get that much accomplished today. Anyhow, I came across this guys art the other day on DeviantArt. His name is Maciej Perkowski (I have no idea how to pronounce that first part), and he’s a cartoonist from Poland. I’ll post a couple more of his cartoons below, but check out his gallery for more of his work. I gotta pork chop to flip. Later!
Hey El Moochadors… I think all that shit about Friday the 13th is real. Today has just gone from suck to blow. Sorry, I’m off to a negative start here. I’ll try to be more positive from here on out. Anyhow, sorry we missed a post yesterday, but both Trog and I got caught up in the Moocast and really didn’t have time. Hopefully Trog will have that edited and done with real soon here.
I did come across some nifty stuff worthy of a Moo tonight. Like the image above by DeviantArt member Wraithdt. His real name is Darren Tan, an artist from Singapore. From the description on this piece it says it was suppose to be for the Star Wars Galaxies trading card game. If you look through his gallery you’ll see a few more kick ass looking pieces he’s done for that game. I highly recommend you check them out.
Holy cow, I’ve felt like shit all day. Now I have a couple more New Year’s resolutions: 1. I’m never getting drunk again, and 2. I’m staying away from Denny’s for the rest of the year. If I can keep with the first one, then I won’t have to worry about the second. I dunno… something about really really wanting a Lumberjack Slam when you’re extremely wasted… I’m sure there’s some sorta science behind it, ’cause there’s absolutely no other time I crave that shit. Anyhow, I’m still feeling pretty dizzy, so I’m going to make this a quick one. Below are some nifty creative and geeky YouTube videos I found in my reader. Usually I would go into where I found them, who created them, what they’re about, etc… but for tonight? Naw… If you’re really that curious about these, then just follow the links back. No disrespect to the creators, I’m just not feeling up to all that tonight. Enjoy.
Right now I’m between projects; I just finished an upload to my microstock accounts and now I’m about to continue working on some library posters I was hired to design. I thought I would take a break and do a post while Trog is busy putting together the last Moocast. As far as any Atomic Moo news, well I’ve decided to take down the downloads page for a little while. I want to get more specific on the type of projects I’m putting up for download, and I need some time to work them out. The main reason I started this site was to have something for myself to create for, and the free downloads were part of it. So I definitely want to get something back up soon. Still, I want to get more focused on the type of projects I’m doing for Atomic Moo, and just not slap the logo on anything I come up with. Other than that, not much else to report.
Anyways, here’s some nifty things I’ve come across recently that’s worth a shout out… or a moo. Like these Star Wars Art Prints by Case Kunz. Looks like they’re available on Society6 for purchase.
I’m really missing the Saturdays I had as a kid where the biggest thing I had to do was to get to the next level on Zombies Ate my Neighbors. Actually, that’s not a bad idea… maybe I’ll dust off the old Genesis, relax a little and play for awhile—oh wait second, I can’t! Only got eleven days to figure out how I’m going to pay rent. I better go put the old Genesis up on Ebay instead… oh well.
Anyhow, I saw somethings this morning I thought we should share. I spotted the cartoon above on DeviantArt.com, by the artist known as Montygog. Looks like it’s on sale today at Teefury.com. If my wallet wasn’t coughing up dust like an asthmatic mummy, well, I might pick one up. More stuff below to check out. Enjoy!
Sorry for not posting a Morning Moo yesterday. Blame it on Trog. Alright, Saturday night I can’t sleep. Mostly because of stress. So I stay up most the night vectoring (something about laying down anchor points seems to help), and trying to keep my mind off the absolutely horrific interviews I had last week that I can’t stop brooding over. So, by seven on Sunday morning when Trog gets up, that’s when I feel tired enough to get some sleep. As Trog is throwing on his shoes to go down and get some breakfast, I ask him, “hey, do you want to do the Morning Moo, and you know, get something on the site?”
“Absolutely! You can count on me, brother!” he replied. So I shuffle off to bed knowing Trog’s got my back.
I wake up a little after twelve, shower, dress and shuffle back to my mac where I log in to Atomic Moo and see… Nothing. I ask “hey, where’s the Moo you said you’d put up?”
“I’ll get to it! Relax! It’ll get done!”
“Yeah… but, it’s no longer morning…”
“So, I’ll make it a Noon Moo or an Evening Moo. Chill!”
Even that never happened. Trog did finish the latest Moocast, and I have the file here that I need to upload to our server… then he’ll take it and put it on iTunes, however he does it… So there’s that to look forward to. Other than that, there’s not much else to report. Below are a few nifty things from way more talented geeks than us, so enjoy.
Winter is Coming
I spotted this T-shirt design on my reader a few days ago (via Neatorama.com), by a Spanish artist who goes by the name Faniseto on RedBubble.com. He’s got some other nifty geek mash-ups in his portfolio, so check it out if you get the chance.
Sorry I’m getting to this so late. I usually like to have this done before now. Unfortunately we didn’t get much of a Moocast recorded last night. Hopefully tonight,or tomorrow night, we will. Other than that there’s not much else to report. Anyhow, here’s some nifty stuff of interest I spotted while browsing around the web last night.
One of these days I’ll get around to making an official header for this… along with cleaning up the site and all. I have another fun day of sending out resumes and portfolio samples ahead of me so, I have to make this a quick morning moo. Enjoy.

Here’s something Buttery came across in his internet travels. I have no idea who makes these, but good job guys! Visit their site if you want to see more of these.
