Uncle Chudd’s Comic-Con Highlights

Posted in Conventions on July 26th, 2011 by Uncle Chudd

Why does it feel like the Monday after Comic-Con always sucks? Here’s how this Monday has gone: Trog seems to have caught Capt’n Trips (ask Buttery Wholesomeness about it) and is spewing snot all over the place; I’m flat busted broke; with the two clients I currently have, one can’t make up his mind (but absolutely won’t listen to my advice), and the other tried to change the terms on a contract we’d had both agreed to last week (that one I kind of tore into today… we’ll see how long he remains a client); My microstock account won’t seem to budge and the inspectors are dicks (it’s kind of taken the fire outta me for that lately). Today has been a big rolling diseased ball of stress and madness. It sucks because I just spent the last four days meeting and listening people who are successful and are doing what they love to do… while I’m just bumble-fucking around trying to figure it out… oh and I turn 35 at the end of the week… yaaaaay…

The Monday After…

Posted in Conventions on July 25th, 2011 by Uncle Chudd

Alright… we made it back alive… barely. Comic-Con 2011 had its highs and lows, but overall it was pretty awesome. I had a good time (as you can see in the photo above). I started writing a post last night of some the highlights I experienced, and I’ll finished that tonight. Unfortunately I just got too tired and went to bed early. I’m only 35 (or will be in a few days), I should have more energy than this, right? Anyhow, this is just a quick update. I’ve got some work to get to, and try to make some clients happy. I’ll tell you though, after the con, I’m really wishing I could find someway to make this my full time job. If there’s one thing I walked away from this year’s con with (besides a massive amount of debt and a hangover) is a lot of inspiration. I feel all fired up to be more creative and do more for myself and the site. We’ll see how long I can keep that fire going. Well, sorry it’s almost 9:00 and I’ve got some work to do. I’ll definitely finish that post tonight, and I know Trog is working on one as well. We also have a ton of stuff to review and go over, and I know Buttery is working on that as well. Later!

Swamp Ass PSA with Nathan Fillion

Swamp Ass PSA

Fellow Moo D20 sent me a link to this earlier this morning. I would’ve posted it earlier too, but I kind of slept in… Didn’t get to bed until 5 am… vectoring some illustrations to put on my iStock account. Anyhow, this is a pretty funny PSA, something I suffer regularly from sitting in this chair all day. Is it just me or does it look like the Captain is putting on a little weight there? Just sayin’… Check out the video below and let us know what you think. I’m off to take a shower.

NSFW My Little Pony Song

My-Little-Pony-Friendship-Is-Magic

I thought I would do a quick post of something I just saw on my rss reader before I go to bed (via ToplessRobot.com). Well, if this is what My Little Pony is actually like, then I feel sorry for making fun of Bronies… I guess I’ve been missing out. Anyhow, if yer one of those sensitive types that don’t like bad language (I don’t know what the fuck you’re doing on this site then…), then this is not for you. You’ve been warned. For the rest of you foul mouth bastards, like myself, enjoy!

Batgirl Fan Film

Good morning El Moochadors. I hope you all had a great weekend. Last night, while I was trying to relax and settle down before bed, I came across this nifty Batgirl fan film on Youtube. It’s created by Breathe Again Entertainment, where they got some other neat projects for you to check out (like the X-23 fan films). Anyhow, I wish I could say more about this project, but I really didn’t get much further than 1:30 in to the film…

1:30

Hey, it was late… no one else was around… what’dya think I guy like me was gonna do? Don’t judge! Anyhow, I need to finish watching this later. Check it out below, or go to their YouTube Channel. I’ve got some socks to wash…

Terminator 2

Hey El Moochadors! Here’s a nifty Terminator 2 stop-motion animation to celebrate its 20th anniversary of its release (July 3rd 1991 — July 3rd 2011). Holy crap! It’s been twenty fucking years since Terminator 2 came out??? If I remember right, I had just finished my hellatious freshman year of high school… good times…  It’s by a group called Rymdreglage. I think they’re Swedish… not sure if we should hold that against them or not. Anyhow, check it out below and let us know what you think.

“Finish Her!” My Little Pony Fighting Game Looks Interesting…

Posted in General on June 22nd, 2011 by Uncle Chudd

MLP: Fighting is Magic

Here’s something I just came across in my reader (via NerdApproved.com) for all the Bronies out there. Looks like an independent studio is putting together a My Little Pony game (called “My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic”). It looks like it’s being developed by Mane6, and they make it clear on their Youtube page that this is a fan game, with no profit intended. Visit Mane6′s website if you want to learn more about the project.

As much as the idea of grown men watching a show about magical ponies bugs me, this game does look pretty interesting. Hell, I can’t think of how many hours I’ve wasted on Robot Unicorn Attack. So, if I can find I copy of this when it’s released, I might give it a try. Still, I have no desire to watch the show; my geekiness only goes so far. I can’t believe there’s man-geeks out there that actually collect the figures (read this). What the hell is the world coming to??? What’s next? Care Bears? Strawberry Shortcake? POOCHIE???

I need to relax… I’m going to go dust off my Star Wars toys… Enjoy the video.

Nerdgasm! Lego Super Star Destroyer!

Posted in Collectibles, Geekery on June 21st, 2011 by Uncle Chudd

Lego Executor

Hey Geeks! I gotta get back on track with everything. Yesterday I was feeling pretty awful, so I wasn’t able to get much done. Anyhow, here’s something pretty nifty that I came across in my reader (via CNET). Looks like this fall Lego will release it’s version of Darth Vader’s Super Star Destroyer, The Executor! This thing looks pretty bad ass, and it’s making me regret being a poor SOB right now. Here’s the specs they give for it on their site:

The Super Star Destroyer Executor has arrived! This jaw-dropping vessel is the personal flagship of Darth Vader, and serves as command ship at both the Battle of Hoth and the Battle of Endor. With its classic dagger-shaped design, the Executor is among the largest and most powerful vessels in the Star Wars galaxy. With over 3,000 pieces, measuring nearly 50″” (124.5 cm) long and weighing nearly 8 pounds (3.5 kg), every aspect of this fantastic LEGO® Star Wars™ model impresses.

  • Includes 5 minifigures: Darth Vader, Admiral Piett, Dengar, Bossk and IG-88.
  • Includes 5 minifigures: Darth Vader, Admiral Piett, Dengar, Bossk and IG-88
  • Features over 3,000 pieces!
  • Measures nearly 50 inches (124.5 cm) long and weighs nearly 8 pounds (3.5kg)!
  • Includes display stand and data sheet label!
  • Center section lifts off to reveal command center!

According to CNET, the Executor will go on sale September 1st, and will only set you back $400… ’cause why pay rent when you can play with Legos, right? I’m going to go look between the couch cushions and start scrounging for change. Maybe by September I’ll have enough pennies to afford this… maybe. I’ll post more pictures of it below. Check it out and let us know what you think.

Diagram of Geek Culture

Posted in Geek Art, Geekery on June 17th, 2011 by Uncle Chudd

Diagram of Geek Culture

Hey El Moochadors. Usually I like to do a post earlier in the morning (before 9:00 or so), but this has been one hell of a morning for me. So, sorry the morning’s post is a little late. Anyhow, here’s something interesting I came across on my reader (via GeekTyrant.com). I think it’s an impossible task, but it looks like someone has tried to map out Geek Culture. One thing I’ve always have found fascinating about Geek Culture are all the different sub-cultures, and sub-cultures of those sub-cultures, that all seem interrelated to each other. Check out the diagram above and let us know what you think.
