Han Shot First: A Petition to George Lucas

george lucas

Happy May the 4th El Moochadors! Or May the 4th be with you! I’m not sure what’s the right way to say it. I guess this is the day Star Wars geeks have chosen to celebrate the films. I’m definitely popping Empire in to the DVD player later tonight.

Anyhow, I saw something last night that I thought would make for a good morning post. It’s a video for a petition to get George Lucas to change the upcoming 3D release of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope back to having Han shooting Greedo first. It’s from Paperclip films, the same guys who did the “Never Seen Star Wars” video not too long ago. I’m not sure if this is for real or not. I don’t think it is, since I can’t find any links to an actual petition… I dunno, I could be wrong. Let me know if I am, because I’d be interested in signing this.

I’d also like to see Lucas fix a couple things in Empire and Jedi that didn’t need to be messed with in the first place. In Empire: bring back Vader’s line “Bring my shuttle,” which sounded way more ominous and pissed off than “Tell the Star Destroyer to prepare for my arrival.” In Jedi: take out all the CGI bullshit in the Jabba’s palace scene and lose Christian Haydensen as ghost Anakin at the end of the film. Well, I could go on a nerd-rant for awhile on this topic, and since I have to start my work day soon, I better stop. The last thing I will say is that I don’t agree that fixing this one scene will make up for the prequels. It’s a good start, but doesn’t even come close. Anyhow, check it out and let us know what you think.

Do You Really Want To See At The Mountains of Madness Get a Green light?

At the Mountains of Madness by DeanKuhta

Looks like there’s an online petition to get H.P. Lovecraft’s At The Mountains of Madness made into a movie. I’m currently reading the story, and working on a Lovecraft inspired project, so this caught my interest when I read it on BleedingCool.com. I’ve tried reading At the Mountains of Madness a couple times before, but never finished it. It would always make me fall asleep. I’m not saying it’s a bad story. It’s not. I just can’t seem to stay awake while reading it. For the past week I’ve been having problems getting, and staying, asleep, so Sunday I picked up a set of set of Lovecraft’s stories to read at night. I’m just at the part where they discover Lake’s camp has been destroyed. It really is a decent story (I think it’s the pacing or some thing about it that keeps knocking me out… I dunno…), and I would really like to see it made into a movie. Especially if Guillermo Del Toro is at the helm. I think he would do a great job bringing it to life. Anyhow, here’s what the petition says:
