Beat Down Boogie’s Coverage of the Cosplay Celebration!
Check out Beat Down Boogies coverage of Anime Matsuri 2016 in Houston, Texas! Like always, BDB goes through and shows an enormous amount of the costumes and fun accompanied by a groovy beat. Yeah, “groovy.” Featured in this video are popular cosplayers Vampy Bit Me, Enji Night, Stella Chuu, and Angela Bermudez. I’ve posted the video below along with a few sample images. Check out the Facebook page to see the full gallery and get more information.
Good morning, El Moochadores! Well, what’s left of it anyways. So, it’s been a few days (or more) since I last did a Morning Moo, and since I came across some killer fan art this morning I figured, why not. So let’s kick things off with a fantastic bit of Lion King fan art (above) by French artist Lehuss. That is absolutely sinister the way he captured Scars murderous intent toward his brother. I’ve posted a few other samples of Lehuss’s work below, but also check out his Facebook page to see more!
And in other geeky happening’s, check out this cool trailer for Noel Clarke’sThe Troop. According to the press release the comic features art work by Joshua Cassara and an alternate cover by Elena Casagrande. Here’s the synopsis:
Across the planet and unknown to each other, a group of troubled teenagers lead lives of quiet desperation. But hell is about to befall them and they find their lives destroyed when they are targeted by dark forces. On the run, they discover they have unbelievable powers and must come together – as The Troop!
I actually really dig the idea of a trailer for upcoming comic book releases and hopefully we’ll get to see more like this from all sorts of comic creators. Anyways, according to Titan Comics, The Troop will be available December 9th.
Beat Down Boogie just released a new HD video of all the great cosplay at Dragon Con 2015! They also posted an extensive photo gallery of the costumes and parade on their Facebook, a few of which you can see below. But don’t miss out! Hit the links and see way more!
Hello El Moochadores! Premiering next week on the Youtube is a interesting new Web series; Sweethearts of the Galaxy! Hey, we’re Atomic Moo, so of course we’re gonna want to help generate “buzz” for a web series about cosplayers, mental illness, and a girl in purple spandex. Here’s the synopsis:
Katelyn used to dress up as her favorite characters at comic book conventions. And then at a convention with her fellow cosplayer Silva, something happens that causes her to think she really is the character she admires most. Her roommate Lilly devises scenarios straight out of fiction, so Katelyn can make her way through real life. But then when the rest of their friends get into the game, it starts to get out of hand…
The series stars Kit Quinn as Katelyn and Tallest Silver as Silva and is written by Michael Premsrirat and directed by Dexter Adriano (editor on Psych, Lizzie McGuire, Unfabulous, Three Kings). Sweethearts of the Galaxy is also funded by a successful Kickstarter where they raised over $36,000.00! For more information on Sweethearts of the Galaxy check out their website on Blogspot or like them on Facebook. Of course it would also be wise to subscribe to their channel on Youtube and follow them on twitter. Below is the series preview video and a few sample images from the show! We’re really look forward to this and we’ll post more about future episodes as they premiere.
L.A. based writer and cosplayer, Constantine (aka Constantine in Tokyo) has produced some very wonderful posters mixing WWII retro promo posters and super-heroins. According to Constantine’s facebook, She made the costume and helped design the poster with Japan Cinema and photography by Jonathon D. Courtot. Excellent work Constantine! Let us know when you get back from Tokyo… nyuk nyuk nyuk!
Damn, I can’t seem to focus tonight. I’m trying to get through a couple projects today, but I keep allowing myself to get distracted… like by hoping on to Atomic Moo here. So, while I was procrastinating I spent some time on deviantArt and I came across these awesome superhero mash-ups by dA artist doubleleaf. I have no idea what their real name is, all I know is they’re female, Japanese, and extremely talented (I can only hope she’s single and into goofy looking white guys…). Take a look at her gallery for more great work. I’m gonna go see if I can focus and get something done tonight. Later!
01/27/2013 / Trog / Comments Off on Deadpool Killustrated covers by Mike del Mundo
Via Geek Draw; Oh… I hate my job! But, do you know who really likes his job? Wait! I’ll answer for you. The answer has to be Mike del Mundo. Now, keep in mind, I’ve never met Mr. Mundo (del?) nor even heard of him before now, but I know he loves his job because his job is to illustrate beautiful covers for great comic characters like Deadpool! Checkout the various covers by Mundo (again “del” first is that not right?) for Deadpool: Killustrated that feature the Merc with the mouth going up against Moby Dick, Tom Sawyer, Scrooge, and Serlock Holmes! Damn, I hate my job. Maybe if I worked hard and practiced I could have Mike del Mundo’s job. That’s it, I’ve decided. I want his job. I don’t care that he’s not done with it yet. I still want it. Sic Semper Tyrannis Mundo!
Hey El Moochadors. Here’s some more nifty looking geek art that I came across on deviantArt.com. They’re by illustrator Artgerm (Stanley Lau). I’m pretty impressed he did these with markers. One of these days I’ll give them a try… Anyhow, check out his gallery for more great geeky art work. My pre-packaged microwavable dinner isn’t sitting in my guts too well (it looked okay on the package… uhhgggg…). I’m off to the head. Later!
Happy New Years El Moochadors. I know the day is almost done, but I thought I would start the first day of 2013 off right by doing a post. Anyhow, I came across these nifty head fan arts (arts? not sure how to say that) on deviantArt earlier. I thought they had a pretty good style to them. I think they’re vector to, which I can appreciate. They’re by dA user HeadsUpStudios (Jay Brant). I’ve posted a few of his pieces below, but check out his gallery for more (there’s a bunch!). I’ve gotta go scarf down some warm cookies now, so later!
Hey El Moochadores! This is just a quick post because currently I’m working on a few book reviews and some freelance stuff, so I don’t have a lot of time. However, I really wanted to get this on Atomic Moo! Via Geeks are Sexy, Watch… this… thing by Youtuber Matt Mullholland! Matt, I don’t know what the others are going to say about you, but I think you’re a fucking genius.
