The Morning Moo!

Featuring Star War Art, Some How To, and Fun with Jurassic Park!

Good morning El Moochadores! Okay, usually it’s my own laziness that keeps me from actively working on anything Atomic Moo related… but not this time! No, this time (if you look to the right) it was this blue screen of compute death w8sm10! I recently tried to upgrade my system to Windows 10 and, yeah… big mistake. Okay, so I know there’s probably a billion (guessing) people who upgraded and didn’t have the same problem, and I’m also not the most computer savy guy, but that blue screen really wrecked a lot of stuff I was working on. So, anyways, I’m back to Windows 7 and a determination to only buy Apple in the future.

Anyways, it’s been a bit since I was able to post so let’s jump right in with some cool Star Wars art by DarkInkArt.com. Look up (way up) to the begining of this post and you’ll see this unique silk screen piece called Destination Victory and it is being offered as part of a 250 piece, 18″ x 24″, signed edition at $50.00 each. It has a great Imperial propaganda vibe, if we were to ever see imperial propaganda. Click the link above to see more great art by Dark Ink Art!

Painting Mark Ruffalo with Jason Seiler

Next up: Check out this interview from Schoolism with professional artist Jason Seiler about his rendering of Mark Ruffalo for the New York Observer. As a would be artist, I’m always interested in hearing how the professionals do their work and Schoolism is loaded with interviews like this. Though I found this one on the Bobby Chiu youtube page.

If Jurassic Park Were In Different Geological Eras

Finally, What if Jurassic Park were in different geological eras? We would have a lot less exciting movie. Well, Maybe. Anything “precambrian” would just make for a really short movie. In any case, check out College Humors take on a totally different Jurassic Park… with a pretty good Jeff Goldblum impersonation to boot!

Via Geekologie: ‘morning El Moochadores! I’m late for work so this is just a real quick post of something very cool. Check out this amazing 10,000 piece LEGO Millennium Falcon cross section! This LEGO work was created by Titan Creations and is as close to an actual representation to the interior of the Millennium Falcon as you could ever get… with LEGO. The whole thing measures about 3′ 7″ by 3′ 3″ and has 24 working lights. Keen. I’ve posted a few sample images below, but more images can be seen by clicking the link above.

With Lego Demonstrate Fan Fiction and Independent Science Fiction!

Good morning El Moochadores! For today’s Morning Moo we got a very cool Sci-fi short film, Polis, and Star Wars fan fiction told through the illustrative power of LEGO. Wow.

How Boba Fett Escaped the Sarlacc… In Lego!

Via Atomic Moo contributor Buttery Wholesomeness and The Nerdist: A lot of people hate on fan fiction, and they are wrong to do so. Fan fiction is awesome and we need more of it! It’s really great the lengths to which fans are willing to go to tell their version of a loved story. Take, for example, LEGO enthusiast (and Star Wars fan) Daniel Stoeffler who, through the magic of LEGO, tells us how Boba Fett escaped the Sarlacc pit! According to Stoeffler: Jawas (lovable scamps that they are) have secretly built a distillery right next to the Great Pit of Carkoon to harvest it’s unique digestive juices, which they then use to produce a nectar called “Jawa Juice.” Eww. It’s through a series of small holes and tubes that the Jawas have inserted into the Sarlacc’s stomach’s that the luckless Boba Fett is able to find his way out of the creature and into the distillery. Okay, I’ve butchered the story in my half-assed attempt at a synopsis. For the complete story please go visit Eurobricks.com where you can also see the images of Stoeffler’s incredible diorama in order. Check out a few sample images below!

Not Really News from Not News Guys…

ohmygodIhatewakingup. Hey El Moochadores! I’m tired. But I’m here! That’s what counts, right? Or at least it should. Too bad life doesn’t reward you for minimal effort. Anyways…

For today’s Morning Moo, we got new art from Nicole Brune and Kyle Roberts! Groovy.

Mermaid by Nicole Brune

Artist (well, we call her “fine” artist… get it? “fine.” Doudouble enten… eh, nevermind… I gotta wake up more before I start writing) Nicole Burne is currently working on a new Mermaid piece. The example shown above isn’t finished yet, but so far, it’s looking pretty damn good! Check out more of Nicole’s work on at her web site, or on Deviant Art!

Jill Trent, Science Sleuth #1

Independent comic creator, Kyle Roberts is a contributing artist for a new comic, Jill Trent, Science Sleuth! Currently the comic is seeking funding through Kickstarter, and there’s still time to help contribute! The comic is about a woman (Jill) who, along with her faithful partner Daisy, uses science to solve mysteries! According to the Kickstarter page, the comic is already finished, they just need funding to help get it published. Check out the Kickstarter video below along with a more complete synopsis.745d924e93cb89817edad1112f698b5a_large Also, just remember that helping independent comics is one of the few sure ways to enter Valhalla. I’m pretty sure.

Jill Trent, Science Sleuth was a comic book heroine published in the mid-1940s who solved mysteries and caught crooks using her scientific genius, improbable inventions, and the fighting prowess of her faithful partner, Daisy Smythe! Now, more than 65 years later, we’re bringing Jill and Daisy back in JILL TRENT, SCIENCE SLEUTH #1, a 28-page comic book featuring 5 stories by 5 creative teams! Each stand-alone story reimagines the Science Sleuths in a new way, including a range of racial and ethnic identities and time periods, from the 1940s to the not-too-distant future. Suitable for all ages, the short stories in JILL TRENT, SCIENCE SLEUTH #1 include both a mix of “real” science and goofy sci-fi, celebrating women in science with an undercurrent of feminism.

You can also check out more of Kyle’s art, and comic(!), at the The Dark Hours!

Okay, I’m off to save the world! No, not really, but I will earn a poverty level minimum wage… and maybe buy a donut. So, that’s something.

Not Really Current News from Not News Guys…

G’morning El Moochadores! Okay, I have to run. Not literally. Well, maybe. I’m really late for work, and (even though I really hate my job) I don’t want to be homeless. Well, okay. Wearing an old army jacket, and circling the shore on a rusted out beach cruiser does, kind of, sound cool. But I also like regular showers and not spending the weekend in county jail… so, I’m going to work. However; I’ve done pretty good with keeping up on the ‘morning moo’ so check out this quick post of Conan O’brien’s “interview” with Archer.

Some What Current News from Not News Guys…

Good morning El Moochadores! Okay, I slept in a little late, and this more like a “late-morning moo” now, but that’s okay!

Elemental Evil Returns to D&D!

As I write this, I’m thinking of our good buddy, D20, who for the last few years has been trying (mostly in vain) to get us to play Neverwinter Nights. So, Geeks of Doom reported that the free to play MMORPG, Neverwinter, will be adding “a new downloadable module from Cryptic Studios and Perfect World Entertainment. The new module will include all sorts of new player classes and raises the level cap to 70. The article also reports that Neverwinter may be coming to Xbox soon. Also, expect to see new modules for Wizard of the Coast games like Prince of Apocalypse, new miniature board games, and maybe more. Check out more information about the expansion modules at the Geeks of Doom article!

Windows 10 for Free!

Okay, calm down folks. This is Microsoft we’re talking about here. There aint noth’n free. I’m sure somewhere in here is a faustian bargain, that’ll sign over our bank accounts, privacy, and souls. However; for those of you a little less cynical that I am, The website arstechnica reported that Microsoft will be offering free versions of Windows 10 to Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 users for one year! The official announcement was made during the Microsoft Preview Event by Terry Myerson who said,

Once a device is upgraded to Windows 10, we’ll be keeping it current for the supported lifetime of the device… With Windows 10, we think of Windows as a service… The question ‘what version are you running’ will cease to make sense.

According to the arstechnica article, this is the first time Microsoft has offered an OS for free. For more information you can check out the arstechnica article here.

Okay, El Moochadores, this is my day off, so we’ll have some actual geek creative stuff to post about later today, and later on this week we’ll have book reviews and maybe (MAYBE!) and brand new Moocast.

The Morning Moo…

Some What Current News from Not News Guys…

Good morning El Moochadores! I just woke up and I’m still feeling a little groggy. Actually, waking up was probably the worst mistake I could have made today, so maybe things will be all right! Anyways…

Blizzard Gives Orc Statue to Ten Year Players!

Via Geek.com; If you’ve played World of Warcraft since its launch in 2004, then you’re probably going to be receiving this very cool Orc statue! You’ve also probably spent a little over 1800.00 on a video game, which may have done better in a money market account (or IRA), but then you wouldn’t have the azure proto drake, or Amani battle bear… Tough call. So, anywhat, Blizzard is still celebrating their ten years of existence, and as part of the celebration they are sending the statue to any player who has had a World of Warcraft account since November, 2004 (US), with the stipulation that you still have to be a subscriber. According to the geek.com article, this statue is a miniature version of the large statue at the Blizzard headquarters in Irvine California. Which, I can verify, because I’ve seen the real one, and it’s awesome! Sorry, I had to put that in there. Still, “gratz” to Blizzard, and it’s loyal players.
