Via Deviant Art: Hello, El Moochadores and check out the above, and wonderful, Star Wars poster art from UK artist Andy Fairhurst. According to Fairhurst’s Deviant art page the posters are “officially licensed limited edition prints” for Bottleneck Art Gallery and Acme Archives and they’re so good that you kind of just feel the magic of the force when looking at these. Keen.
Anyways, according to the bottleneck page, the posters are currently sold out, but I did post a few more samples of Fairhurst’s work below, so that you can all enjoy the talent in a digital way.
Damn I’m horrible about keeping up with this. We both thought this would be a good way to help us build some drawing skill, but also take part in creating some geek art of our own. Since we’ve started this blog we’ve seen some really amazing and talented work that others have done, and I think both of us would love to be able to produce work on the level of those we’ve posted on. We got a long way to go… Anyone else who wants to post their weekly geek-art…thing.. along with us is more than welcome to (skill level does not matter). Just send a jpeg to Trog (email@example.com) and we’ll post it up here. Anyhow, let us know what you think.
Hey people… While Trog is getting everything set up for tonight’s Moocast, I thought I would do a quick post of some great looking posters I saw over on Geek-Art.net. They’re by a Canadian ad agency, BlueBlancRouge—hmmm… I think those are colors…? I dunno, I flunked Spanish… Anyhow, I thought they were pretty bad ass and worthy of a “Moo”. Looks like they’re part of the ad campaign for the Star Wars Identities Exhibition in Montréal, Canada. I’m not sure which one I like more, but the Darth Vader and C-3PO posters are my favorites from these. I’m kind of curious to see what a Chewbacca would’ve looked like. Check out the rest below. I’m going to go see if I can find something for dinner that once had a mother. Later!
12/20/2011 / Uncle Chudd / Comments Off on An Evening Moo: Dark Knight Rises, Awesome Geek Art,and Other Stuff
Hey Geeks… I feel like total shit tonight. I went to a Christmas party on Saturday night and, along with some Anime DVDs I got in a White Elephant, came home with somebody’s cold. Yesterday and today I’ve been a walking and shivering mound of festering snot. Worse part is, yesterday I had a job interview and today I had two people contact me about doing some work for them. Do you have any idea how bad it sucked trying to remain composed through an interview while still buzzing from all the NyQuil I took the night before, and trying to keep yourself from hacking up a lung as you’re trying to present your resume and portfolio??? So to who ever got me sick on Saturday, you are now my mortal enemy, and I hope to see you drown in a bowl of your own vomit and piss. Fucking mouth-breathers out there…
Anyhow—holy shit I’m feeling lightheaded right now—anyhow… here’s some nifty geek stuff I’ve seen the last couple days. Like this awesome Darkwing Duck illustration (above) by DeviantArt member Real-SonkeS. Sorry I really don’t know a lot about this artist other than they appear to be from Russia.
I’m pretty sure you’ve all seen the Dark Knight Rises trailer a couple dozen times already.
I guess some people are starting to bitch about Bane’s voice; it’s too muddle or you can’t understand him. I didn’t really have a problem with it, or at least it didn’t bug me too bad. I think my problem is I’m not that excited to see the film, which sucks because I really enjoyed the first two Nolan films. Over the last few months it’s felt like we’ve been barraged with photos from the set, sneak peaks, rumors, etc… I think the film has kind of been spoiled for me. However I am getting more interested in seeing Ridley Scott’s Prometheus.
I think mostly I’m interested in this because I know nothing about it, except it sort of, but probably not, has something to do with the Xenomorphs from the Alien films, and might, possibly tell us something about the “Space Jockey” from the first Alien film. Yeah…
Check out these nifty Star Wars/ Lord of the Rings illustrations by DeviantArt.com member Ferret42. My favorite has gotta be the Witch King on the speeder bike (below), with the Eye of Sauron in the Death Star above him… pretty neat! The one below that of Boba Fett hauling Frodo into Mordor looks awesome, but I can’t help thinking that later on Boba is going to get knocked into the fires of Mt. Doom by a blind and confused Samwise Gamgee.
I saw this the other day (via GeekTyrant.com, who got it from TieFighters.com), and thought I should share it here. Seems like it’s been awhile since I’ve posted some great examples of geek art, but then again maybe it hasn’t. Just seems like it. Anyhow, it’s a awesome looking illustration of Yoda as Mr. Miyagi. Damn, doesn’t he look like Pat Morita with the head band and goatee? It was created by Fernando Degrossi, and if you click on his name you’ll see more of his great work. Okay, I’m off to find some breakfast.
Okay, you’ve all probably seen this already, but what the hell, I like it and wanted to post it here. It doesn’t get any better than this and If I could I’d have all the Star Wars rap songs, produced by Bent TV playing on a constant loop on this site. Wait, scratch that, no I wouldn’t. I like these animations and raps. If I had to hear it all the time I’d go insane and headbutt my computer. All things in moderation, I guess. So here it is, just this one time, from Atom.com, Star Wars Gangsta Rap: Chronicles.
I wanted to finish this last night, but unfortunately I ate something for lunch that I don’t think wanted to be eaten. Not to get too graphic, but junk was spewing out of both ends of my body. It was a complete evacuation. It was like the apocalypse in my stomach, with everything rushing around in a panic, looking for any route of escape, and some crazy dude standing on my colon screaming “BRING OUT YOUR DEAD! BRING OUT YOUR DEAD!” I ended up jumping in the shower twice last night because I felt so… unclean (I guess that’s the best way to describe it). Was that too graphic? Anyhow, I thought I would try and finish this today. So here is this weeks Cool Star Wars Stuff of the Week. Happy Thanksgiving by the way (hope you enjoy that turkey).
Well, since my brother has advised me that I’m too pissed off to write about what I really want to, and that I should take some time to think about what I want to say (instead of going off on a rant, which I’ll probably do anyways), I’ll post something a little more lighthearted for tonight. I saw this earlier today, I think I liked the Darth Vader one better (have they done Chewbacca? If not they should). Take a look and enjoy. What the hell is a TomTom? Ah F*ck it… just watch the commercials.
